Pastor
Darrel Hooper - Pastor
Pastor Darrel Hooper was born in 1956 in Nashville, TN and raised in Hendersonville, TN where he met and married his High School sweetheart, Candy Riddle, in 1974. They raised three children, Scott, Tony and Eva while serving in the military. After retirement from the Army, he served for three years as a Deputy Sheriff in Cheatham County, TN. Brother Hooper's whole life was about keeping the peace, yet he never knew the Prince of Peace. Becoming frustrated with systems of this world, Brother Hooper traded in his uniforms and rules for a Harley Davidson and began experiencing this world in a new way. After about 18 months of searching for something to fill the void in his life, he came to himself like the prodigal son in the pigpin of life. Thank God that Sister Hooper had already come to this wonderful truth two years earlier through the power of prayer and personal testimonies of close friends. If not for the prayers of the faithful, only God knows how this story might have ended. He finally submitted wholeheartedly to the Lord and was filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sins in July of 1999 while at the Tennessee District Camp Meeting. He continues to praise God for the power of prayer and the power of the gospel to draw a sinner to repentance and to the knowledge of who Jesus Christ is. Two years later God called him to preach and two years after that, God placed a burden on his heart for their community of Pleasant View, TN. In October of 2003 the Hoopers were sent out from the First Church of Nashville and their pastor, Ron Becton, to start The Lighthouse Chapel in their community. On Janurary 26th, 2006, The Lighthouse Chapel was set to order and is now an autonomus church.
Candy Hooper - Pastor's wife
Sister Hooper was raised by loving parents who were faithful in teaching their children the importance of church attendance. But after marrying at the age of 17, she realized she must make her own decisions about her walk with the Lord. She will always be appreciative of the knowledge she had of the Lord during that time, but something was still missing. She had not experienced a true change that the scriptures spoke about and her attempt to live righteously was short-lived and filled with desperation. After a mid-life struggle to "find herself" lead to a lifestyle that brought only guilt and shame; she turned back to the Lord for some real answers. Some of her friends had come to know the Lord in the power of His resurrection and she witnessed a true change in them. They were praying for her and finally one day she totally submitted to the Lord and she obeyed the gospel by giving her heart totally to Jesus, was baptized in His precious name, and six months later was filled with His Spirit. She has not been the same since that time. Her husband was unhappy with her newfound faith and the profound change that was taking place in her. Yet the Lord showed her grace and gave her strength to pray for him until the day he also surrendered and had his own, "Day of Pentecost". The Lord gave her some insight that one day she and her husband would be working in the ministry together, but she never would have imagined what all the Lord had in store for them. Every day serving the Lord is a blessing and honor and she will continually praise the Lord for all He has done! Sister Hooper plays the piano and also teaches the children's Sunday School.
